4 Ingredient Hot Chocolate

The Northeast has been having a wonderfully mild winter. Until now, when winter decided to arrive and make up for all lost time, in one day.

I am in no way shape or form complaining because frankly, we purchased new skis in October and I would love to use them! Plus, one good snow is always awesome. My kids make lists of things to do on snow days. I love the break in the monotony! I adore being snowed in with the boys, a full fridge, nothing to do but eat, drink, and PLAY. Oh, and clean, because my four year old put that on the fun list of things to do?!?!

We are warming up with this hot chocolate today. This hot chocolate is filled with healthy fats and nutrients. The recipe uses raw cacao powder. Raw cacao powder is more beneficial than traditional cocoa powder, which loses its nutritional value when heated and processed. Raw cacao tastes just as wonderful as chocolate, because it is! This recipe contains no dairy, and no refined sugar, but is just as rich and creamy!

I almost never follow a recipe, but I had the privilege of making this several times today. There are just four ingredients so I was able to measure the amounts without too much trouble. Feel free to use more or less of each ingredient, depending on the richness and sweetness desired. This makes about two servings.

2 cups non-dairy milk of choice
2 tablespoons raw cacao powder
2 tablespoons coconut oil (use more or less for creaminess)
3 tablespoons honey (use to taste)

Heat milk in a saucepan until warm, then combine with all other ingredients in the blender. Blend until frothy.
